Old Fashioned Pound Cake. Combine milk and flavorings, add alternately with dry ingredients to creamed mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients, blend thoroughly after each addition. Add each egg, one at a time, blending after each addition.
Sift the flour and nutmeg together and set aside.
Add flour mixture and buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture, on low speed until just combined.
Slow and steady wins the race with this pound cake. (Compare this to my usual bake time on round cake pans. Sift Your Dry Ingredients Using a sifter, sift together the cake flour and baking powder into a large bowl and set aside. Just make sure to leave this delicious yet simple homemade pound cake to cool completely before eating.
